In Win2000, add a value
AutoRun=doskey
to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor.
I use this to load a macrofile:
AutoRun=doskey /macrofile=d:\my-macros
Type cmd /? for more configuration options of the DOS box.

I have done just that, but the "arrow" keys don't work for command
line recall. How is that accomplished in Windows 2k?
Thanks,
/Ed

I just created a Desktop shortcut that points directly to \WINNT\System32\CMD.EXE
- it seems to run the 2000 equivalent of DosKey automatically, without editing
the Registry.

You aren't using "command.com" are you? The shell in the NT platform is the called
"CMD.EXE".
