Windows 2000 doesn't use autoexec.bat (its only there for compatibility reasons -
it uses autoexec.nt when running dos/command prompt programs - in \winnt\system32
- same for config.sys - config.nt). Why would you want to do this - there are a number
of places you can specify for programs to start up from. Have a look at

My email server wouldn't let me reply to you - so
It allows you to manage what starts up with windows (you can add, edit, delete or
disable entries). It will give you list of entries where you can store the startup
program (eg, win.ini, registry (user or machine), startup folder(s))
