RPC related DFS problem

After rebooting a W2K srv box, a DFS root on that server is no longer available. When trying to connect to the DFS root via the DFS admin tool i receive 'RPC server not available' message. I've tried resarting the the RPC service as per Microsoft article 224370, but the service is already running. By design the service cannot be stopped if already running. There are no connectivety issues with that server, which is often the case with RPC problems. AD replication (which is running on IP encapsulated RPC) is functioning perfectly also (thank god!!) Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

Since I have never had your problem, my only thought is to try stopping and starting the DFS Service There no dependencies and recovery only has basically these options (restart service, and reboot the server)

i should have mentioned that i did this first, but no luck. Additionally : while the DFS service was running, access to other DFS roots via dfs admin console was possible. When the service was stopped however, these roots were no longer accessible. This is obvious since the service was stopped. But interestingly enough, the same message was displayed (RPC server unavailable) for the working roots, (while the service was stopped), as displayed for the problem root (while the service was running.)
