I use a shutdown utility often. Here's a free one: http://www.systernals.com/ntw2k/freeware/psshutdown.shtml

I have that program in my path and a bat file named rebootnow.bat in the path as
well. The bat file is only one line:
psshutdown -t 0 -f -r -l
To shutdown without reboot omit the "-r".
I also use their pskill tool a lot as well for IE and OE which seem to have lives
of their own.
killie.bat: pskill IEXPLORE
killoe.bat: pskill msimn
