I recently installed Internet Explorer service 6 pack 1 on my Windows 2000 machine
and just discovered I only have 56 bit encryption instead of 128 bit. I can no longer
access any secure sites on the internet and am no longer able to do online purchases
or online banking.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is it just a problem with Windows 2000? There is
no option for uninstalling IE6 SP1 and when I try to reinstall IE6 (no service pack)
I get an error message saying I have a newer version of IE and the install quits.

This happens all the time on windows 2000 so here's the link to download the 128 bit encryption pack. http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/recommended/encryption/default.asp

It worked! Thank you!

When I first tried fixing the problem I did a search of the Microsoft website using
the phrase "128 bit encryption" and that page did not show up in the results. How
did you find it?

I actually typed it into a search on google a long time ago and saved the site. Glad it worked for you!
