C:\WINNT\system32. If your files are listed alphabeticaly it will be aeasy to locate
the Services file in the list of files found in this folder.

>where can I find the services window in windows 2000...
1. Open the Start Menu and pick Settings->Control Panel
2. Double-click on Administrative Tools
3. Double-click on Services
4. Find the Messenger service in this list
5. Double-click on Messenger
6. Click on Stop
7. Change Start Up type to Manual
8. Click OK
And you will never be bothered by another messenger pop-up. Of course it won't have
any effect on all the internet explorer pop-ups we're plagued with these days...

Getting 2 pop up’s that wont go away. Firstly message from www.spw5f.com telling
me that there is a problem in my registry and to go to their website to purchase
software to get rid of errors. Hitting the exit the second message security alert
wont’s me to go to http;//www.winregfix32.com. Dong the same is a further request
to purchase pop up removal software.
Shortly after putting the popup message in the corner of the screen I can not send
email get a message on pop mail not working. I have formatted my hard drive and reinstalled
all my software only to be back at square 1. I use Zone Alarm when on the net plus
heaps of pop up blocking software yet the problem come back.

I have exactly the same problem as mentioned in post of 25.7.2005. it pops up all
2 minutes, saying to go on pages such as:
www.wupdate.net
www.winregedit.com
e-regpatch.com
www.spw5f.com
www.fixregnow.com
etc.
Have tried Spybot 1.4 and Ad-Aware 6.1 with latest updates, but neither of them can
remove this bloody thing. who knows advice ??
Cheers
Rene

I have been bothered constantly by this pop up even though I reloaded my entire operating
system, XP Home Edition. Then I followed these directions...it worked perfectly!
No more annoying pop ups from Windows messenger service. Thank You SO Much!
