Question about 'Speed up system restart'

I have a question about Speed up system restart:

I'm using W2000 PE and just reformatted my drive. Windows is functioning except for when I try to shutdown or restart. The system takes forever to respond. It will eventually complete the operation.

if you have applied windows update it has 2 files which cause slow shutdown that can be removed through add-remove programs, they are #329170 & 328310, remove these & the shutdown will markedly increase, if you haven't applied the updates , go to power options & see that it's set to shutdown

I have both those files in my XP Pro also. Do these files do the same with that OS? Been searching in the XP forum but not finding anything. Thought I'd try this. Thanks.

Mr. Malcolm, Namaste. I am Mr.K S S N SARMA, from India., I recently formetted the my main drive and updated windows. However, the system slowed down considerably. I read your replies, on June 11, 2003, but those two files, viz., 329170, 328310 do not figure in add\remove programmes window. However, the following update numbers are there. Kindly advise me which of these files are causing the system go slow. MICROSOFT DATA ACCESS COMPONENT :KB870669 WINDOWS 98 -- KB891711 WINDOWS 98 -- Q823559 WINDOWS 98 -- Q840315 WINDOWS 98 -- Q888113 WINDOWS 98 -- Q890175 With regards, KSSN SARMA
