Question about 'Get Rid of Irritating Splash Screens'

I have a question about Get Rid of Irritating Splash Screens:

I don't know what she did cause I wasn't here when she did it but my wife was on the internet and clicked on a link that now has an ugly bitmap, gif, or whatever it is that displays as her computer shuts down. I searched her harddrive for bitmaps, gifs, and jpegs and I absolutely couldn't find the image to delete it. I assume its become one of those splash screens that Microsoft puts in a location for no one to find. Does anyone have any idea how I might find and get rid of this image that displays during system shutdown? Any help would be appreciated.

Windows 9X - Look in the C:\WINDOWS folder for "logo.sys" - it will have a letter like "w" or "s" after the logo. If you open this in MSPAINT you'll see it. Windows NT/2K/XP - Search in Yahoo! or Google for Windows XP Shutdown Screens, there should be a program there for modifiying these files, as they are held in the registry not a file.
