hi all,

whenever i boot up, at the login screen, i receive an error message from service
control manager saying that a service or driver was not started, and asks me to go
check event viewer...so heres the log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7000
Date: 10/14/2003
Time: 9:30:52 PM
User: N/A
Computer: IBM_T30
Description:
The PMEM service failed to start due to the following error:
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

i think i got it after installing updates from ibm's website. i don't know which
one was it as i installed all at one shot..so if someone can help...it would be of
great help...thanks...

open regedit browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PMEM\ you got a key labelled ImagePath, edit it and change the value to "system32\drivers\PMEMNT.SYS" then open a command prompt and type "net start pmem" if the modification if ok the service will start and u won't be annoyed anymore.

I just noticed the same thing in my Systems Events Log. Was there any resolution to this?

Thanks ! That works. Note: do not use "c:\winnt\system32\drivers\pmemnt.sys" this path does not work !! Just use "system32\drivers\PMEMNT.SYS"

It also works with XP SP3 on a Lenovo 8148 after I copied pmemnt.sys to the drivers folder. Now, what is the PMEM service? Should it be disable? If so, how?
