You can get rid of this annoyance. Install Total Copy (http://download.com.com/3000-2248-2167436.html?legacy=cnet).
It's a small freeware program that replaces the default Windows copy dialog. It also
allows for pausing and resuming the copy.

Total Copy is the official website but
it doesn't replace Windows' copy function since you have to use the right mouse button
to drag files then select "Total Copy Files" from the context menu.
