Internet Explorer won't open a new window when a link is clicked

Hi,
I reloaded Windows 2000 recently and since been getting a weird glitch with Internet
Explorer. If you click on a link and the page loads by refreshing the current window
there is no problem. However, if when the link is clicked and the new page wants
to load from a new window nothing happens unless you left click the tab on the bottom
toolbar then click the tab again the new window opens and the requested page loads.
Weird. I've uninstalled IE and reinstalled, I've gone through all the folder options
and IE options..I'm flummoxed!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated as my girlfriend is going barmy!!
Cheers
Steve

Frustrating, huh! I think Netscape may provide the best alternative to IE. I too
have the same probs and it is pissing me off as well, especially when there are no
solutions to this problem (that I've found any way!).
My next machine will be a Mac. My friends don't have any of these rediculous problems
that I have with errors and what not.
My machine is a high-end Dell with XP. I've never had so many problems in my life!!!!!

I had the same trouble with IE 6 on XP.
I found a troubleshooting on microsoft web site for IE4 that work also for IE 6...
(source : http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=180176)
start...execute "regsvr32 actxprxy.dll"
then
start...execute : "regsvr32 shdocvw.dll"
and reboot
hope this helps...

Check out the Opera browser!! I downloaded it (aprox. 15mb) and it works much better
than IE. I removed Explorer from my computer and use the Opera Browser as my default.
Try it out. I think you'll like the layout and ease-of-use!
;)
