Programs Crash in Win 2000

I'm running win 2000 pro on an Athlon 1.4 Ghz. When I have had my computer on for a while, I start to have problems. Anytime I try to open a new program, especially internet explorer, the program starts up for a second and then completely dissapears. It isn't listed in my task manager either. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I have run Sophos antivirus software checks and they haven't turned up anything. Do worms show up?

Worms should show. The latest one arrived about a week ago and did exactly as you described. Disabled exexutible files on anti virus programs first, then attacked all program executibles. A nasty one. Forgot the name. Make certain your anti is up to date.
