I am running USB 2.0 (IOGEAR) with my windows 2000 service pak 4. When I plug my Epson Perfection 2400 scanner into the 2.0 it won't work and the computer won't recognize it. I have no problem with USB 1.0 (o.e.). The device mgr. recognized the 2.0 card. I spent an hour on the phone with IO GEAR and they could not get the scanner to work with the 2.0 card. I have tried two other USB 2.0 cards and they don't work either with the scanner. (?) P.

It may be just a win2k driver you need to get it up and running

By the way did you turn off the onboard USB ports in the BIOS ?
