Internet URLs in Run Command

I used to be able to enter internet addresses into the run command box and win2k had no problem with it, it would just give me the web page. Now it no longer works and just gives me an error like: "Cannot find "www.google.com"..." Can anyone tell me how to get this functionality back?

It should be working fine... Have you tried to the whole HTTP path? (http://www.google.ca)

"HTTP://" prefix does work - however the "www" used to be the only prefix I needed for standard web address. Thats what doesn't work now. Any ideas?
