This is a posting of another instance of the problem similar to Toye's. But in my
case I'll add a little more background detail.

Problem statement/Symptoms:
My folder contents in Win2000 are no longer visible (i.e. I see no contents in Windows
explorer's right hand side in any view; detail, list, large icon, small icon etc).

My need
To get the contents to appear again. Thanks in advance!

Background:
In the WinExplore window, The directory structure to the left is still visible.

Also, I've verified that the contents to the right are indeed present, just not visible.

And recently, I've been getting several errors from Internet Explorer. It states
that IE is closing, will restart and offers to send an error report to Microsoft.

The last three tasks that I performed before noticing this problem were:
1) loading digital camera software (NIkon View) 2) uploading the digital pictures
via a new USB hub.
3) I executed a Windows Internet Explorer update that I noticed in my system tray.
An icon was flashing there stating that an update was ready to be installed, so
I executed it.

Some time after these tasks, I noticed that my folder contents were no longer visible.

I had the same problem, after applying a windows update. Finally I remembered that IE is closely integrated into the OS and installed the lastest service pack for IE and I have explorer file browser and control panel back.
