Question about 'Can you provide a list of all possible Windows error messages?'

I have a question about Can
you provide a list of all possible Windows error messages?:

Why not discuss the common, Windows-bundled Event Log (App/System/Security) entry sources? Why not reference some list of common/standard/bundled event ids (and the event string templates that go with them)? The present answer is akin to saying that there is no list if IP ports since arbitrary applications can opt to use any number of different IP ports. In reality, there *is* a very handy list of common/reserved IP ports. Now that information can be quite handy/useful (re firewall configurations, etc.). The present answer might as well be "answer declined". For instance, if I'm writing scripts to monitor one or more of the Windows Event logs, I'll probably need to know if certain common/bundled event IDs are defined. Such particular event IDs might represent precisely what I want to monitor! Partial knowledge is a heck of a lot better than zero knowledge ;-) Cheers, Steffen.
