im running windows 2000 and recently my computer has been locking up randomly it seems, both while its idling and sometimes when it is starting up. other than when it locks it runs great. but what brought me to thinking there is a virus on my computer (eventhough i scaned with norton, trendmicro, ad-aware, as well as spybot and found nothing) i found three files in my temporary internet folder that just will not delete...one of which has a creation date of 12/31/1969 and an exporation date of 12/30/2030. that just didnt look right to me. ive tried running all of the programs i mentioned multiple times to see if i could find anything, but still found nothing. could someone help me out?

Seprius
It's hard to say if it's virus/worm but most randomly locks come from low on ram
or bad ram...
Now for the old file ,,,right click on the file and get the Prop.see details on
it ,,,,,,,it will tell you what program it belongs to..and then run down that program
and remove it (uniistall it )
BUT a 1969 file hummmm,,, It's true some files will not be del. if windows is using
it at the time...
But you can always remove them in safemode..and if windows needs them it will put
them back after reboot..
i.e. the one for ZoneAlarm will be set as read only..and can't be removed in norm
mode.
If you think you still have a virus /worm, run the TaskMrg and see if the CPU is
running at 50% or higher all the time, that's a good tip off you have a virus running
in the background..
If so goto the site
