Font Useage

I recently upgraded to verison 2000 from 1998 of Microsoft Word. In '98 i used a special font to make a cross (in autotext). I typed cross in a document then pressed f3 and a "cross" appeared in a document. I may have been like "webling" font or another that prints "special chracters. In the new version I cannot find the font that makes special characters like a cross. I use the "cross" in church reports. If the font is not available in 2000 is it obtainable? Can you help? Thanks, Rick rmayer@3rivers.net

The fonts used by MSWord reside in files in the folder \WINNT\Fonts. To make sure
you still have the old font file, click Start->Settings->Control Panel->Fonts, and
go through the list of anything that may contain symbols (you may view them by double-clicking
on the file name). If your file is gone and you cannot get it from the old Word98
cd, and you cannot find a free equivalent on the web, a cheap solution would be to
buy WordPerfect Suite (you may pay something like $5 - $10) and it has lots of fonts,
including WP IconicSymbols. Copy the font file to the above folder.
When you have the font, in MSWord, click Insert, Symbol, and choose the font containing
the symbol you want. It will be displayed in the grid. Then you may code a little
macro that inserts it in your documents.
