Can not Save/SaveAs .jpg in mspaint.

This is an annoyance that comes with Windows 2000. I used to have a zipped file with
all these .dlls, I think, that I put in some folders. Then I ran the .reg file, and
that would fix the whole problem. But my hard drive crashed so I lost the zip file.
I have been searching Microsoft's Knowledge Base, Google, and Annoyances.org, still
nothing to help me. I have found some things that SOUND like they'll work, but they
don't help me. There has to be someONE that has the fix for this.
Thank you.

Most people use irfanview. It's free:

I happen to use vueprint. It isn't free:

I'm with Steve! In the time you've spent messing with trying to fix Paint, which
is a very limited program, you could have downloaded and installed a half dozen good
freeware programs, figured out which one you like, and gotten some useful work done
with one of them!
Do a search on "freeware paint" and you'll have more stuff than you know what to
do with!
Here's one:

If you want to edit photos, Irfanview is good, I hear. I've been using Xnview,
and fine it very helpful for viewing and basic photo editing.

Well I'm asking if anyone has the fix that I previously had. I like Paint for what
I do (just convert screenshots to jpg). I dont want to install a program just to
convert a screenshot to jpg because i know it's possible for Window 2000's mspaint
to do it, you just need a fix.

I know it doesn't answer your question, but how about using Imaging (free - comes
with Win2K). It allows saving as jpg...
Right click, Open With, Choose Program, Imaging

Hi I had the same problem, but this website has the answer:
http://www.geocities.com/one_human/index2.html?advanced.html
Go to "Tips & Tricks" - "Advanced Tips" - Item 6
I can save as and open JPG- and GIF-files in paint again because of this site. Check
it out!
