I'm currently running a wireless network in my home, with two desktops and two laptops. All are windows based. My personal desktop is running windows 2000 with a wireless card for connection to the Internet. I have a second NIC installed for sharing. What I'm trying to do is share the Internet connection with an ibook g4 running os x (10.3.8). How do i configure both machines to do this? Thanks.

the internet hook up ...that windows started ? ?

Good Luck

The easiest way would be to plunk a router in there between the dsl modem and the machines. You could try Internet Connection Sharing, but I have not had any luck with it. You could search for ICS or Internet Connection Sharing and see what you find. Just some thoughts off the top of my head.

Im trying to run the iBook G4 on the OS X platform, sharing a internet connection through the second NIC card inside of a windows 2000 machine (primary NIC card is a wireless card connecting to a dsl modem). thanks.

windows 2000 acts as its own internal router with two NIC cards. I'm running into problems on the config side of the primary/secondary NIC cards in windows and the config for the apple. thanks.

Give this a try, if you haven't already. On the secondary NIC, use the primary NIC's IP address as the dns server ip address. Do the same on the apple. In theory, the win2k internal router table would then route traffic accordingly.

The only thing that comes to mind is..
Run the cable from the MAC right to the DSL box and it should get to the net from
that point or pop in a PCM wireless card in the Laptop

(smile) yes that works. unfortunetly, the main computer and dsl is on the second floor... my office is on the third floor. I know this works... I seen it work on os8/os9 about 3 years ago. I can only assume that OS X is an improvement on these systems and networking capabilities. thanks.

Bryan
The DSL box can be moved to just about any phone jack in the house or get a (wrieless)
router or two, cheap now days...and put them on ea. floor....or one outside on the
patio........
Plugging the cable into the windows nic card from a MAC machine is a long shot
You may want to check the web site called mac world they may a have a tip or two
that may help.
