Active window (Word,Excel, etc) loses focus every 30 seconds

Since Monday I have a system wide problem with application-window focus. Around
30-60 seconds the active application window will cease to be in focus (blue titlebar
changes to grey titlebar). The problem is affecting most computers across the Win2K
network. All the lastest SP and security updates have been installed on the network,
comprising of ~150 2KPro workstations and two 2KServer servers.
During the typing of this plea for help the focus has shifted away from IE(6.0.2800)
8 times and I'm a quick typer.
Any solutions would be amazing, even a hint as to where to start looking would be
a major help.
