I have a question about How do I get my sound card and CD-ROM drive to work in DOS?:

i have windows 2000 professional, can't get the volume to work. The box that has volume control in Sounds Multimedia Properties will not light up, and is set at low, and the box IS checked for show volume control on task bar, however there is no icon for the volume control at or on task bar. However, it does not show up on taskbar. When i go on Programs, then enterainment, then volume: it says no driver device.

Denny
To start with win2k is not a DOS base OS..
Win2k will not use the autoexec.bat or the config.sys to load the devices up at boot..(for
DOS base programs to use them in the DOS mode) and that's the key so to speak....

But you can do a thing or two to get them to work in win2k..

Let me ask, are you trying to play a DOS base game in win2k ? if so what's the name
of the game/program ?
