Windows 2000 Installation Error !!!!!!HELP!!!!

Trying to install Windows 2000 Pro on my Laptop. I have been running the same OS(2000pro)
on it for 12 months and reinstalled it twice and never had this problem. I have searched
the issue in google and yahoo with no result. The error that i keep getting is:
File \i386\biosinfo.inf could not be loaded.
The error code is 6656
Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.
Im inclined to think its a hardware issue as i have never come across this error
before on any 2000 install but without decent results on search engines i wouldn't
know where to start diagnosing it. The error is produced straight after it detects
the hardware. Does anyone have any ideas or had this problem before? If so, how did
you fix it?

"File \i386\biosinfo.inf could not be loaded"
1st thing you want to do is make sure the file is on the cd and the file is Not corrupt.
CD's do get damage.
You can use Winzip to exract the file just to check on it..
When you find the file and winzip can exract it to a temp folder you should be good
to go..
You can use ths workaround if you want.

Laptops can be nasty to setup and install OS on ..
Most come with Recovery CD because most of the Laptops have very proprietary hardware.
Some need to use a boot disk(driver disk) from the Mfg.to load the BIOS setting..
You can get a boot disk/driver disk from this site on ebay.

I used Bob's software all the time and it works every time.
NOTE****
Did you make a backup copy of your win2k cd,if so give it a try or ask a mate if
you can use his and use your product ID to install it on your machine.
This may or may not work, but it may be worth a try if your cd is bad.
Good Luck

Here's what I would do.
Run a memory diagnostic:

Run a hard drive diagnostic:

I have the ability to make bootable CDs, so I have these on CD. But running from
floppy will do.
Another very handy CD that I use for diagnosing problems is Slax. Slax is a Linux
that boots and runs from CD. The same CD works fine in my three computers. It gives
a second opinion on possible hardware/software problems. But of course you need
to be able to make a bootable CD.

Just a note on Slax: I never knew anything about Linux until a freidn gave me a Knoppix
bootable CD to rescue my WIn2K system...Windows & Secure are antonyms...lol. I love
Linux...
