Network Question

I have a simple network setup. Most computers are still running 98SE, but I've just
installed a computer running 2000. All computers, except the newly added computer
that is running 2000, connect to each other and the internet through a hub. I don't
have the resources to install another wire to the main hub, so I have installed a
2nd network card in one of the 98se computers and connected that to the computer
running 2000. Everything seems to be working fine except the internet connection.
I can't get the win2k computer on the internet. If I install internet connection
sharing on the 98se computer, the win2k computer can access the internet but no computers
can access the files on the 98se computer. Any suggestions? Thank you - Sridge

Go out and get one more hub and stack it on top of the other one or put in down line
from the other hub.

Hi DEX:
Thanks for the response. I can do that. So, basically, what I am trying to do with
the 2 network cards will not work? I thought that it might be possible.

I'm not 100% sure about this.
But it comes down to IP address,it's true you can have more then one nic cards on
the machine but only use one IP for the machine.
Sharing a IP can be hard to setup.
If you take the machine out of the router or to say out of the loop then you will
have a hard time taking to the machine via the other computers.
They make many type of routers with many ports.
The one I use is a 10 port and I have 3 of them wired all over the house.
2 are hard wire Cat.5 cable with wireless and they work the best for me.
So to say if I need to check out a PC I just plug it into one of the routers or
snap in a wireless device and I'm off and running.
Win2k will do all the work I also run Lantastic and MS Network on all the machines
that way if I need to test a old OS machine, Lantastic with set it up in 2 mins.
with out my help.
Have a good one

Thanks, Dex. I understand what you're saying. Getting the hub will be much easier.
You have a good one also.
