Question about 'What to Throw Away'

I have a question about What
to Throw Away:
I have a huge number of 1,760 KB WinZip files in my c\windows\options\cabs directory.
They are named Win98_22 thru Win98_74 and Win 98_OL
They were last modified 4/23/1999.
Can I delete them?

Bill
I would say why not.
If you are no longer running win98
They are install cab files that came off the win98 cd.
You could save them to a cd but I don't know why you would need them but you just
never know.
Just copy all the files in c\windows\options\cabs directory and then DEL. the
cabs folder.

DEX,
Thanks. Now I also have the following WinZip files (all modified on 4/23/1999 in
the CAB directory. Can I delete them also? What I am thinking is that if they are
unzipped they might be used, but since they are winzip files, they have probably
never been used in six years, so I will probably never need to unzip them and hence
can delete them. Am I thinking correctly? And can I delete everything that follows.
Most of the first group at 1760 KB
BASE5
DRIVER11 thru DRIVER20
NET7 thru NET9
PRECOPY1 and PRECOPY2
WIN98_OL
ranging between 1300 and 1760 KB
Then in my CABS\PWS directory I have the following winzip files between 800 KB and
2100 KB:
FP30EXT
IIS4_02
IIS4_03
IIS4_05
JET
MTS1
MTS2
RDS
I also have winzip files between 3000 and 6500 KB called Core 1, Core 2, and Core
3, and Other, in the following directory
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Java\Update\Base Images\j2re1.4-b28
These however, were added on 6/4/2004. Can I delete them too?
Thanks,
Bill

Yes to all the others you listed.
A good rule of thumb any thing dated b/4 12-1-1999
