My question is: how do I enable sharing? When I right-click on a folder, the sharing
optionis not shown...

Besure to logon as the Admin.

I have full admin rights - in fact, am the only user.

Try this,right click on the folder and select Prop./then select the Share folder.
If you don't see it run gpedit.msc and see if been disable.

Under the properties of your network connection, be sure file and printer sharing
for microsoft networks is selected.

Make sure your HDD is formatted as NTFS, won't see sharing if it's FAT32.
