HIDSERV error after Installing ATI Video Card & Latest MS Updates

After rebuilding my W2K box and installing a new ATI Video card (the instalation
loaded down a whole lot of other stuff which I'll never use) I'm getting a message
box indicating that HIDSEV had an error and is closing. I have installed all the
drivers for this card which came on a CD with the card.
I'm using an MS wireless mouse (USB) which works fine and after doing a Google for
HIDSERV it seems to be an error if you have a keyboard with some sort of sound either
in the keyboard or some device attached to the keyboard.
I have disabled HIDSERV through MSCONFIG so I don't get this message.
Would some please be good enough to shead some light on this issue. I hate disabling
services not knowing exactly what is going to happen. Is there any fix for this
sort of thing?
Thanks.
Regards
