Opening PDF files in multiple windows with Acrobat/Reader

Hi there...

Acrobat has one of the most annoying "features" of any
program that I have ever encountered, that when you
open multiple files they open in multiple windows within
the main acrobat window rather than in a separate top
level window.

A quick search of the web showed that you can start
acrobat with the '/n' switch to open a new top level
window each time that it is started. That works great
and is a life saver for me who has dual monitors and likes
to read things side by side sometimes (gasp!)

Now the tricky part (and the actual question), how can I
set things up so that when I double click on a .pdf file in
the file manager it opens up the pdf file in a new top level
window as well?

I tried changing the registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.pdf

Application to "Acrobat.exe /n" but no joy, windows
doesn't recognize that the /n is a command line switch
and just throws up a window asking me to choose what
application to open the file with.

Anyone have any ideas on this? Is is possible in general
to supply command line switches to programs that are
used to open files when they are double-clicked?

thanks-
dan

Windows doesn't control programs in that fashion so changing the registry won't help.
You can add a switch to a shortcut but without trying it myself, don't know if that
will work when auto launching. Adobe will have to tell you if there is a solution.
