250gb hard drive only showing 130gb hard drive?

I've got a new system with a 250gb sata drive installed. During install, the MS install windows showed the drive as a 130gb hard drive (windows 2000). A friend said it requires sp4 to be able to see the entire drive. I installed all updates past sp4 and still, only 130gb show. Under Disk Management it only shows 130gb, nothing more, not even an extra drive. What's wrong? Is it a bios setting?

Look in the bios to find out.

After you install SP-4 you may still neeed to enable the 48 bit LBA if it is a ATA drive.
This may also be true of XP in some cases. An explanation of this is on the Seagate site.

Did you read all that? Did you try it? The 137 GB issue is a "native" problem in windows. Only XP 64 and Vista have it right. Does the "Hot Fix" resolve this in Windows 2000? How would you know if it does or does not? References outside MS say the problem is bigger that what MS will admit to. It is not just a tweak in the code.
Here is the Seagate document:
http://www.seagate.com/support/kb/disc/tp/137gb.pdf
Heres is a quote
"See also the support.microsoft.com Knowledgebase articles that explain how to enable large drive support after the Service Packs are installed."

Which could mean that the SP itself does not turn it ON!
