Hi Guys, sometimes after loading, a message comes up, that some files have been replaced by strangers, and to put in the cd to correct the problem. When I do this, I get the four options, i.e; Setup/browse etc; I have a fear of anything to do with files, particulary when I'm not sure what exactly the computer is asking me to do. Does it work at fixing it in the background, or do I have to do something? Clicking on Setup would scare the life out of me. Any help with this one chaps please. Thanks.

Jim

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life.

Try this... Start/Run/ type in sfc /purgecache this will run your system file checker program and check the systems files for errors or if they have neen replace with others it will put the right files back in place, have your win2k cd on hand it may ask for it but when windows was installed it put backup files in a backup folder dllcache and a 386 folder and stored the files in it...

You'er Welcome Jim It will only tell you if it can't put things back in order but 9 times out of 10 times it can over write any file that it finds in error...by CNC or Date... :)
