Our OP's parents made a very unfortunate choice of name for any American with any
sensitivity against radical terrorist freaks. That may cause a less-than civil response
some places.
Regarding computer concepts, it should not be possible for a communications program
of the type involved to do anything at all like shutting down a system. It can perhaps
attempt to do something that it should not, and cause a BSOD. But the PC is still
running, just not as a functional computer.
Regarding spelling, English is a mongrel language, made up of bits from many sources,
and the spelling is rather archaic for many of our words. Many Americans are bad
spellers, and rather than end up looking like morons, a number of the bad-spelling
folks who use computers and are relatively thoughtful, have begun keeping spell-
check programs ready for use, and transfer their replies to and from a text-editing
program so they can check their spelling.
That same idea would be good for folks for whom English is only a second language.
