Assertion Failure In Index 3

We had a power outage last night. My employees told me that before they left the store, they powered down our Windows 2000 server, yet when they came in and started it this morning, they got a message thaqt says "Assertion failure in file index 3, at line 839. Press Enter". I have tired to restart the computer and get the same error. When I press "enter" nothing happens. We have a raid that I know nothing about. If I press "escape" when the compute ris originally booting, it will take me to some kind of configuration screen for the raid, which I am afraid to mees with. Can anyone help??? Pleassssssssse. Thank you. OI have tried re-booting the computer a number of times and I get nothing.

Everything I found on "Assertion failure" is related to databases. If your database
is internal, you will probably need to get support from those who installed your
business software. If it is external (like a grocery chain price list), they probably
have it fixed already. The only "do it yourself" fix I would try is restoring a backup
of the Dbase.

Your drive (probably) is not corrupted (just that one line of data), so you were
right to leave the raid configuration alone. You should be able to boot to safe mode
to check that. While there a full "chkdsk" may fix your file, but I really doubt
it.
