No pop-up description in Windows Explorer

In Windows Explorer, I've got the checkbox checked that says "Show pop-up description
for folder and desktop items" under Tools/Folder Options.../View Tab/Advanced settings.
Nonetheless, when I hover my cursor over a file, I do NOT get a pop-up description
of any type of file whatsoever.
I've unchecked and rechecked that checkbox, clicking the "Apply" button each time.
I've restarted my PC after rechecking the checkbox. I've waited minutes for a pop-up
description, but I don't get one.
W2K 5.00.2195 SP4 totally up-to-date with Automatic Updates turned on. Any ideas?
