Installing Win2K Server problems

Hi guys,
I am trying to install windows 2000 server on a new comp, and it comes with a BSOD
which says "Inaccessible_boot_device"
Check for viruses etc.
The comp currently has a copy of XP on it but I can't even get far enough to get
to format the HD
Any ideas?

Win2K setup isn't able to find the hard drive. Without knowing the system specs we
are basically shooting in the dark.
It is possibly a driver issue. If the PC has a SCSI or SATA hard drive then you need
to use the F6 option during the very beginning of the Win2K setup. This will allow
you to install the SCSI/SATA drivers so the Win2K setup can find the hard drive.
If the hard drive is an IDE drive, then you may want to look at the jumper settings
on the drive. If the system has multiple hard drives, disconnect all except for the
target hard drive. Set it's jumper to the manufacturers default setting (usually
cable select) and try loading Win2K again.
It is possible that Win2k has an driver issue with the chipset on the motherboard.
I've never had to do this but you may be able to use the F6 option to load the chipset
or IDE drivers.
Lastly, it could be a memory problem. Download the memtest iso image, burn it to
CD, and boot to that CD.
It is best to run the test on each individual RAM chip should the PC have more than
one installed.
Good luck!

I have tried both IDE and SATA and I get the same problem with both. I'm just gonna
put the hard drive in another machine and try it that way I think....
