Wordpad used to provide a rough view of a Word document , by dragging it over the Wordpad icon, without waiting for ever to open normally. It has stopped doing this and only shows gibberish. Is this fixable? Is there any other technique I could use?

It may be how you saved the doc in Word,, save it in the 5.0 ver. format. See the Opt.item in Work to set it up.
