Audio, Win 2000, and Skype

I am using Skype and everything was working fine until my monitor went out and I didn't use the machine for several weeks. When I finally got a new monitor, I had to reconfigure my audio settings ... Here is the problem: For skype to be able to hear me, I need to have Mic Volume checked under Recording Control. However, everytime I get a new call it reverts to unchecking Mic Volume and it checks TV. I have to manually check Mic Volume during a call and it works. How do I get it to stick? What did I have set different before so that it stuck? Thanks!
