Saving images in folder in sequntial order?

Ok...now I know this may sound silly, and if I am just being dumb here it would not
be the first time, but when I save large amounts of image files for editing, they
always appear in the folder out sequence i.e. file '1' will be next to file '10',
which will be next to file '100' etc. It's very annoying, and in large batches can
take up valuable time putting these back into proper sequential order. Chosing to
arrange the folder by 'Name', 'Type' or 'Auto Arrange' with 'right click' does not
rectify the issue. Can someone please kindly explain how I can automatically rearrange
these into true sequential order?
Thank you in advance

You mentioned "large batches". I think you mean a manual process. When I have a problem
like this I use a batch file to rename things the way I want. The sort order in Win
2000 is not the same as XP. Still, there are ways to rename the files to force the
order your want. There are some third party programs to help arrange albums of photos
and/or alter the sort order. Also, which program do you use to get your photos? I
use one one from Cannon lets me change the prefix and put files in folders by date
and sort by the frame number.Like this:
my_cat_001.jpg
my_cat_002.jpg
...
my_cat_009.jpg
my_cat_010.jpg
...on so on

Thank you for that reply. I am dumping from opening an AVI in Adobe ImageReady. There
are 761 frames to the 30 sec file. When they appear in the export folder, the pictures
are badly out of sequence due to the order in which the files are automatically saved.

Well, I was thinking of still photos. I am not familiar with that Adobe program.
You would think that the Adobe program would know that Windows has only basic sort
features and it should mark the frames in such a way that the order would be correct.
Maybe you should check the Adobe site and find out out others deal with this problem.
I do not know of a simple way to fix this in Windows, except to use a program that
force the proper order by adding leading zeros and symbols to file names. Trying
to modify the sort order in Windows 2000 is a real pain. An alternative is to use
another program instead of Windows Explorer to view folders.
Here is a link you may want to look at:
lifehacker.com
10 windows explorer alternatives
That's as much as I can think of.

You have to name them differently. A computer sorts on the first digit first. If
you have hundreds of files number one should be named 001, not 1. If you have thousands
of files 0001, etc
