Complains That "Drive B" Not Ready

On booting, W2k complains that "Drive B" is not ready. I don't have a "Drive B" and don't want a "Drive B". The complaint prevents the computer from booting without manual intervention to dismiss the complaint, which prevents rebooting remotely. How can I stop W2K from so stopping the booting process? I've gone in Administrative Management, but it lists no drive B. On Explorer, a drive B is shown as a floppy, but why it shows, I don't know.

1st. check your BIOS setting, you may have a progam installed that's looking for the B drive,,check the list of programs you have and are loading up at boot...at one time windows got the command from one of your programs...now it looking for it.. Check your reg.file for the command ( RUN ) =====

Boot into your BIOS setup and disable the secondary floppy drive setting (B). Windows
gets it's cue for the drives reported as enabled or installed from the BIOS.

If that isn't an issue, it gets more complicated after that.

Thank you, it was the BIOS. The BIOS said there was a Drive A floppy, but there is no floppy on this computer. P.S. How does one get into the BIOS if you have a USB Keyboard? Luckily, I had the old PS2 keyboard around to hook up so the computer would know that the Delete key was being pressed during boot up.

Depends mostly on the age of the computer, or if the BIOS has a legacy setting for
a USB KB to be used. If there is no option to use a USB KB for POST startup to enter
the BIOS, you have no choice but to have a PS2 KB available in case you need to get
into the BIOS. Some motherboards won't play well with a USB to PS2 adaptor either
but some will. So you could try one of those to see if it works. I've seen newer
computers that didn't have the legacy option for USB when they had PS2 KB ports but
those have been few.

I would say, check your manual to see what options you have for a USB KB and whether
your BIOS has a setting to support a USB KB in what is usually called a "legacy"
mode.

You can download drivers to load it up at boot but it's a pain just keep your old keyboard on hand :) Keep it simple... ========

Drivers aren't loaded at POST which is where you would have to hit the delete key
to get into the BIOS, which is the OP's problem here. He either has a USB legacy
emulation setting in the BIOS that will allow a USB KB to be used at POST, or doesn't,
which means he needs to be connected to a PS2 KB to recognize any KB commands/key
presses.
