I had a document created in 2003 that when my client edits in word 2000, is unable to view the graphics. They appear as a box with an x in it. I reinserted the jpgs as pictures and he was able to view them. Then they disappeared. His table of contents also disappeared. I didn't create the document inthe first place, but now I need to fix it for him. Do I need to recreate it in Word 2000 from scratch? Could there be a different reason for his issues?

This is not an issue with the Operating System. In the case of HTML documents, the graphics and HTNL can be saved together, as if they were one object.
As for Word Documents, the user must insure that the graphics and documents are together or are embedded. There is an option in Word to save a graphics internally, inside the DOC format. If this had been done, then you would be able to open it with a later version of Word. Otherwise, the graphics were left somewhere in the original computer.

HI jmtravis It's not a win2k error it's how you saved the file in Word.. All Word doc's have a header file in the doc file that tells the OS how and what to load up with the doc.. Try this,,remove the normal.dot file in Explore or in Search and Word will made a new one when you restart Word..and use a default one to load up the doc files..with some luck it should pop up.. Under the TOOL item in WORD you select the Word Ver.you want to save it in... ====
