Logon loop

My PC had a virus which was cleaned. But now I am caught in a logon loop. When I
hit Ctrl Alt Delete and then enter password, the system looks like it is starting
up. I hear the welcome music, BUT
then it goes right back to the Ctrl Alt Delete logon screen. Microsoft has a fix
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q249321/. My dilema is how can I boot to get to
the registry? Or is there a utility I can use to correct the boot partition drive
letter? Thanks much for any help.
