I have uninstalled the network cards, re-installed, checked all computers on my network to Obtain IP automatically, and followed the procedure forwards and backwards. I have two computers with Win 2000, and in my main computer, two netcards that each have worked independantly. I found another resource that says if this error shows up, another computer on your network has the ICS IP set, but both of my computers are set to Obtian Auto. HElp!! The solution was to enable ALL 3 of these services BEFORE attempting to click the ICS checkbox: 1) Internet Connection Sharing Service 2) DHCP server 3) DHCP client It is not clear that these services must be running to actually use ICS, because they weren't running before I had to re-install. However, when they weren't running, I got the same message as described by 'Dee' whenever I tried to click the 'share ics' checkbox. My LAN connection (not the ICS connection) was in perfect working order despite the text of the error. Hope it helps.
