XP Professional (US English) can come equipped with the Multilingual Language Pack and XP Pro will also handle dual Processors andf there are differences which can make Home more appropriate for use with smaller FAT32 drives, especially where people have upgraded, whereas Pro seems more appropriate for large NTFS drives. XP Professional is also aimed at the Professional user whereas Home is not.
