The server on which this problem is happening is a file and print server used by
800 students in a high school. Several times, I have seen this series of events in
the log:
1) Event 7035 - Source: Services Control Manager @ 6:48:21 PM - The WinHTTP Web Proxy
Auto-Discovery Service service was successfully sent a start control.
2) Event 7036 - Source: Services Control Manager @ 6:48:21 PM - The WinHTTP Web Proxy
Auto-Discovery Service service entered the running state.
3) Event 12503 - Source: WinHttpAutoProxySvc @ 7:04:51 PM - The WinHTTP Web Proxy
Auto-Discovery Service has been idle for 15 minutes, it will be shut down.
4) Event 12517 - Source: WinHttpAutoProxySvc @ 7:04:51 PM - The WinHTTP Web Proxy
Auto-Discovery Service suspended operation.
5) Event 7036 - Source: Service Control Manager @ 7:04:51 PM - The WinHTTP Web Proxy
Auto-Discovery Service entered the stopped state.
At 4:55:17 the next morning, it started again with the services control manager receiving
a start control, and starting again.
This has been looping for the last week, and I believe that this is what has prevented
the students from accessing the internet.
It is not the individual machines, I can access the internet from both the local
administrator account, and the network administrator account, whose files are located
on a seperate server.
Recently, the service stopped and has not started again. Does anyone know what could
be causing this?
