cscript.exe gone!

hello,
cscript.exe has disappeared from my server. if i copy the file to the server via
ftp, it appears to be successful but is not on the server. i was able to upload
it to the server under a different name and as soon as i renamed it, the file disappeared.
now, i am not able to rename any file to "cscript.exe" as it says that a file already
exists with that name - regardless of the location (folder) i try to rename the file.
any suggestions would be great
