Increasing Password Expiration Time

Does anyone know if you increase the maximum user password age, does it also make
every user change their password after 3 (or whatever the amount of time it says
at the bottom of password policies) days? I would think if you're increasing the
age, that wouldn't apply but it seems like that's what it's saying. Thanks.
