Had similar probelm mapping a folder as a network drive - could not write to it.
Used a bat file to substitute the folder as a drive ex: subst f: /d (disconnect
desired drive letter) then subst f: c:\foldername. This also keeps the folder/drive
off the visable network and seems to be faster for high access.
