Sorry about the several-month delay, but I just now saw this.
If you haven't figured it out by now, the regular CMI 8738 WDM XP driver appears
to work fine in Server 2003. This is not too surprising since XP and 2003 are really
twins under the hood.
I did not use the setup program, but used the manual "update driver" method (from
Device Manager) instead. However, it wouldn't surprise me if the setup program worked
fine too. I used version 0639, which dates from about 2002. You can get it froom
the C-media web site (cmedia.com.tw). There may be a newer version (0643?) out
there but 639 is the one at C-media so I used it. As usual you must be logged in
as Administrator to install this.
It looks like the Server event-sound default settings do not implement very many
of the usual XP sounds, but if you really want them you can add them back in by hand
in Control Panel-Sounds.
Hope this helps.
