D2D or tape backups

I was wondering what people thought about D2D backups. I have 5 win2k3 servers (1
with Ex2k3 and 1 with SQL2k). I am looking for a better backup solution and I'm
at about 800 gig for my backups. I will be adding an additional server in about
6 or 8 months with about 1 - 1.5 TB of storage. My question is, should I use a 800/1.6
tape and see how long it lasts or should I do D2D. If I do D2D, should I do as "das"
box or nas Raid 5? How big should I go? I don't want to break the bank but I do
need something that will last me a long time. Any thoughts, advice, experiences,
or band names would be great!
