hi
just installed 2003 on a spare computer here. i have set up active directory, file
server& dns. now i have created some users in the active directory and have double
clicked them and on the profile tab i have put in a path for profiles to be stored
\\(server name)\profiles$\(username) which comes up with no errors on the server,
however when i log on (using win 2000) it says it cannot store the profile in the
path ive given and that a local profile will be used i have set permissions everyone
has everything but full control and then the admins which have full control with
inheritable permissions allowed. now i have also added a path to the home folder
\\(server name)\home$\(username) and it comes up with a message saying:
the \\(server name)\home\(username) was not created because the path was not found.
This could be caused by listing non-existant intermediate folders or by not finding
the server or share. The user account has been updated with the new home folder value
but you must create the folder manually.
i have been working with server 2000 in the past and it automatically added the folder
in the correct location. what is going on?
finally, i am able to login to the domain via windows 2000 but my windows xp pro
machine complains that the domain cannot be found?
