hi thanks for the reply!
that is correct, i have added both the windows 2000 and the xp machines to the domain
but the xp machine wouldn't log on after a restart or anything. i have given full
permissions on the profile folder and on the home folder but both computers complain
of being not allowed to write to it. yes they are hidden shares.
